Receiving an ADHD diagnosis in adulthood is like riding a rollercoaster, a coaster with endless inverted loops and no shoulder restraints - only a lap bar!
Relief washed over me as I realised I wasn't broken, stupid, or lazy – phew, I wasn't the human embodiment of a malfunctioning toaster after all!
But, the sadness! It was like realising I missed the train to SuccessCity and ended up on the delayed train to Coulda-Been-Town instead.
Before understanding my ADHD, life was like trying to juggle flaming torches in a hurricane – terrible time management, finances resembling a game of financial Jenga, and relationships meant I played the role foster-boyfriend, taking care of guys until the challenges of undiagnosed ADHD pushed them away and found their forever home somewhere else!
Looking back, I've come to realize I've got more coping strategies than Batman has gadgets – from notes and reminders to Siri Shortcuts and a smart home setup that rivals Tony Stark's.
Embracing the ADHD rollercoaster has been a ride, now I've reached some level of acceptance and realisation that life's chaos is just part of the fun.
